Stars Starting to Jell
The St. Thomas Stars season got off to a rough start, but things are beginning to turn around.
Consecutive wins over Pelham and Caledonia and the arrival of two new players has Associate General Manager, Kevin Linker hopeful that better days are ahead.
The new players are Lincoln Moore, who last played for the defending Memorial Cup champions, Saginaw Spirit and Payton Stowe, who played last for the highly regarded Victory Honda team from Michigan.
Linker described Moore, “As a big piece for us. He knows what it takes to win. He can do it all, heavy player, finishes his checks with a good shot”
The Associate General Manager had this evaluation of Stowe, “Great size (6’4”, 179 lbs), skilled skater, good decisions with the puck. He never panics, he’s a smart player “.
Linker said the rest of the team is starting to adapt to what it takes and the commitment needed to win at the Junior hockey level.
He said the imminent return of Artsiom Bialiayev from injury should also help the team. “Arty has had a good start to the season. He put the work in during the offseason and it shows”, Linker added.
The Stars face the St. Mary’s Lincoln on Friday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. for our “Be a Fan, Bring a Can” night. Any fan who bring a food or toy donation supporting Christmas Care will get into the game free.
Hope to see you there!
